Water Quality

As anyone who has used our water knows, it contains large amounts of certain minerals (especially manganese and iron) and sometimes has contaminants that cause turbidity, color, and odor. These secondary water quality problems are not new - our water has been that way for more than 60 years! This is NOT a health problem. Our water is regularly checked by the County for bacteria and other heath related problems.

However, these secondary contaminants do exceed certain state standards and the Las Postitas Mutual Water Company is required to obtain a written agreement from ALL its customers to use our water. A failure to get this agreement may mean that we will not be allowed to deliver water to you! So please download the form in the link below and return it LPMWC as soon as possible! (This request includes both shareholders and renters using LPMWC water.)

Again, please note that we are just asking for you to acknowledge and accept the same water quality that has been available and used for many years. Hopefully, the water quality will be improved when the new tanks are in operation, due to an increased storage time before water is pumped to users.
